'Concave' by Brian J. Alvarado

a private hell, behind
crinkle cut curtains
yields no nook for
anatomy to safely fail,
hitting its hottest at the
purgatory hours, when
the hunch and the slouch
conspire against the larynx
from swallowing any more soft
pixels as placebos for harder truths
an eye waters, or another,
for the same thus departed,
and a bed calls out, so inclined
to a concave spine that a self
may awaken in the wall,
overnight and uneven,
twixt sprinting water, since
creaked to a waterboard drip,
and an urban conclave of braying
subwoofers, their owners easy
to speak, yet probably nostalgic
for mustangs and jukeboxes.
