'IN THE REALM OF REANIMATION' by Paul Edward Costa

The realm of reanimation
touches reassembled monsters
and stuffed animals
sewn back together
with sparks of violent fury
but teddy bears and their kin
twist rusted garden tools
into a victim’s flesh
with more malice
than monstrosities
who remember what it was like
when they were hunted down,
who aren’t haunted
by torturous memories
of lives
once warm
with adoration.
